Victoria’s skilled nomination program re-opens at 10am on Tuesday 5 January 2021.
There are a number of “windows” and “selection days”, with respect to Victoria’s revamped nomination program. The January 5 window, for example, lasts until 5pm on 11 January, and the selection day for that window is 22 January 2021.
Here are the other relevant submission windows and selection days for the remainder of the 2020-2021 program:
The total number of places for the Subclass 190 program is 1,900, which together with the interim program number of 600 places released in September 2020, means that Victoria has 2,500 Subclass 190 nomination places for the 2020-2021 program year.
There are 843 Subclass 491 spots, which means that there are 1,043 places in total when taking into account 200 Subclass 491 places that were released in September 2020.
Application steps
- Get a Skills Assessment and “Competent” English test (unless exempt)
- Lodge an EOI with the Department of Home Affairs SkillSelect.
- Register your interest on Live in Melbourne and wait to be invited to apply for Victorian State nomination. If you have already done this, there is no need to repeat this step, as your existing registration of interest will still be eligible for consideration.
- If your ROI is chosen, you can apply for a visa nomination on Live in Melbourne, which will then be assessed against the Victoria State nomination criteria.
- If you are successfully nominated by the Victoria, you then apply for a Subclass 190/491 visa once you have received an invitation form the Department of Home Affairs (DHA)
Eligibility
- You must be less than 45 years of age
- You must have competent English (ie IELTS 6) or have an exempt passport (UK,US, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland)
- You must have lived and worked in Victoria for at least 6 months
- You must be employed in Victoria
- You must be employed in health or medical research, or have a track record of successfully developing commercial innovative ideas
- Student graduates and PhD candidates who meet the criteria are also eligible to apply
- The following Registered Nurses are eligible:
- Midwife – 254111
- Registered Nurse (Aged Care) – 254412
- Registered Nurse (Critical Care and Emergency) – 254415
- Registered Nurse (Mental Health) – 254422
- Registered Nurse (Perioperative) – 254423
- Your occupation must also be on the relevant DHA occupation list
- You must have a current skills assessment in your occupation
- You must commit to living and working in Victoria for at least two years, and,
- Meet the DHA requirements for the Subclass 190 Visa
